ช่วง 2 ปีที่ผ่านมามีอีเมลล์และโทรศัพท์เข้ามาสอบถามอยู่เรื่อยๆเกี่ยวกับการดูแลรักษาเหรียญ ผมก็ได้ตอบไปตามความรู้และประสบการณ์ที่มี ทำให้ผมเกิดความคิดที่จะถ่ายทอดวิธีการเก็บรักษาเหรียญต่างๆ เป็นลายลักษณ์อักษรซึ่งปกติจะมีเพียงการถ่ายทอดกันปากต่อปาก ทำให้ความรู้ในด้านนี้ไม่แพร่หลาย และนักสะสมไม่สามารถหาข้อมูลได้ การเขียนบทความนี้ผมหวังว่านักสะสมหลายๆท่านจะได้ใช้เป็นข้อมูลในการศึกษาและนำไปปฎิบัติได้จริง ซึ่งจะทำให้มีความสุขในงานอดิเรกที่ท่านรักได้มากขึ้น บทความนี้เป็นบทความแรกที่ผมจะเขียนเกี่ยวการดูแลรักษา จึงขออธิบายลักษณะทั่วๆไปของเหรียญประเภทต่างๆก่อนนะครับ
เหรียญนิกเกิล โดยส่วนมากจะเป็นเหรียญจำพวกเหรียญ 1,2,5,10 บาท เหรียญที่ผลิตด้วยโลหะชนิดนี้จะเป็นเหรียญกษาปณ์หมุนเวียนทั่วๆไปหรือเหรียญกษาปณ์ที่ระลึกและได้นำออกใช้หมุนเวียนในระบบเศรษฐกิจ เนื่องในโอกาสต่างๆ เช่น เหรียญ 2 บาท ครบ 100 ปี กรมบัญชีการเป็นต้น นิกเกิลเป็นโลหะที่มีความทนทานสูงที่สุดเมื่อเทียบกับเหรียญทองคำและเงิน เวลากรมธนารักษ์จะนำจ่ายแลกมักเก็บรวมๆกันเป็นถุง ถุงละ 50 ถึง 100 เหรียญ ซึ่งทำให้เหรียญทุกๆเหรียญจะได้รับการกระทบกันอยู่ภายในถุง ดังนั้นเหรียญชนิดนี้ 99 % จะต้องมีรอยขูดขีด และธรรมชาติของเหรียญนิกเกิลเมื่อเก็บไว้นานๆไม่ว่าจะเก็บไว้ในถุงหรือเก็บไว้นอกถุงเป็นเวลานานมักจะเปลี่ยนเป็นสีเหลือง ซึ่งเป็นปฏิกิริยาที่เกิดขึ้นเพียงพื้นผิว สามารถล้างออกได้ครับ
เหรียญเงิน โดยส่วนมากจะเป็นเหรียญตั้งแต่ ราคาหน้าเหรียญ 50 บาท จนถึง 800 บาท แต่ก็มีเหรียญ 50 อยู่ 5 แบบ และ 100 บาท 2 แบบ ที่เป็นเหรียญนิกเกิล และเหรียญ 10 บาทกับ 20 บาท รุ่นแรกที่เป็นเหรียญเงิน (ดูรายชื่อได้ที่ด้านขวาของเวปไซต์ครับ) เหรียญเงินสมัยก่อนที่ราคาหน้าเหรียญ 50 – 300 บาท จะมีเนื้อเงินสูงมากครับ 90 % กว่าๆ โดยกรมธนารักษ์เก็บรวมใส่ถุง เช่นเดียวกับเหรียญนิกเกิล เช่น 50 บาท พสล. , 150 บาท การประชุมกล้วยไม้ , 300 บาท เจ้าฟ้าสิรินธรสำเร็จการศึกษา ฯลฯ ดังนั้นเหรียญเหล่านี้ 95 % จะมีรอยกระทบกัน แต่เหรียญเงินรุ่นหลังๆมา ตั้งแต่มีหน้าเหรียญ 600 บาท จะได้รับการจัดเก็บที่ดีขึ้น โดยเก็บแยกกันจึงไม่มีรอบกระทบกันครับ แต่ เปอร์เซ็นต์ของเนื้อเงินจะต่ำลง ยิ่งถ้ารุ่นหลังลงมาเหรียญจะสวยใสไม่โดนอากาศเลยครับ เก็บอยู่ในตลับอย่างดี เช่น เหรียญ 600 บาท 75 พรรษาในหลวง, เหรียญ 600 บาท 150 ปี วันพระราชสมภพ ร.5 เป็นต้น เหรียญเงินนั้นเมื่อเราเก็บไว้นานๆมักจะขึ้นคราบดำครับ เป็นธรรมชาติขิงโลหชนิดนี้สามารถล้างออกได้ง่ายๆครับ
เหรียญทองคำ จะมีราคาหน้าเหรียญตั้งแต่ 1500 บาท ขึ้นไป จนถึง 16000 บาทครับ รุ่นแรกๆจะใส่ซองพลาสติกแต่พอปีหลังๆมาใส่ตลับอย่างดีเหมือนเหรียญเงินครับ น้ำหนักจะแบ่งออกเป็น 3.25 , 7.5 , และ
เหรียญขัดเงา เป็นเหรียญธรรมดาที่นำไปผ่านกรรมวิธีเพิ่มความสวยงามของเหรียญ โดยทำให้พื้นหลังเงาเหมือนกระจก และส่วนลายละเอียดและตัวอักษรพ่นทรายทำให้ดูนูนออกมา เหรียญขัดเงาจะต้องดูแลรักษามากกว่าเหรียญที่ไม่ขัดเงาเล็กน้อย ซึ่งเหรียญชนิดนี้ห้ามมือใหม่ไปแกะออกจากตลับเด็ดขาด เพราะถ้าโดนนิ้วรอยนิ้วมือก็จะติดทน อีกทั้งส่วนของพ่นทรายก็จะหลุดเอาได้ง่ายๆ (เป็นธรรมดาครับของๆเราก็อยากชื่นชมเต็มที่ ใหม่ๆก็เสียไปหลายเหรียญเหมือนกัน เหอๆๆๆ) เหรียญรุ่นนี้มีทั้งเนื้อเงิน ทองคำ นิกเกิลครับ แต่คุณสมบัติจะเหมือนกัน วิธีการดูแลรักษาก็จะเหมือนกัน เมื่อเราเก็บไว้นานเหรียญขัดเงาจะขึ้นคราบ อาจจะเป็นขาวๆขุ่นๆ หรือ เหลืองๆแล้วแต่นุ่นครับ บางรุ่นก็ขึ้นสีแดง อันนี้ก็เป็นเรื่องธรรมชาติครับ อยู่เพียงพื้นผิว สามารถล้างออกได้เช่นกัน
